                               Truro, Nova Scotia
                               February 29th, 2012

President, Wayne Talbot opened and chaired the evening at 7:15.
General Interest
Derek Coombs spoke regarding the art display that the club will be putting on during April and May, at the NSCC library.  (Other committee members who have volunteered for the McCarthy Gallery committee are, Doug Purdy, Tyler Rogers, Joanne and David Maxwell, Sophie Hoeg, Angie Geldart.  They had two meetings one on Feb.15th, and also before the 29th regular meeting.
Details were presented by Derek:
Wednesday, April 11th will be the opening night, from 7:00 to 9:00pm;
Entry fee per print, was settled at $4.00;
The pictures for hanging can be of any size;
There is a legal document for those submitting pictures to sign – this is your commitment to give 10%  to the photo club, if you sell a picture. If you do sell a print, you would be asked to provide another print to fill that space.  If this cannot be done, then an email can be sent out to other members, who might possibly have a print to replace the one sold.
Wayne Talbot will be the master of ceremonies  for the evening.
Someone has been asked to provide piano music for the two hour evening, at a cost of $250.00.  This has not been confirmed.
Food and drink provided by the NSCC, will cost $200.00.   Neither  has this been confirmed, at this point.
The commissioner for the evening will cost $80.00.
Thank you to Trudy Coombs, who has made up the small cards that will be placed on each photo.  These will tell the maker’s name and the asking price or if it is not to be to be sold.
Joanne Maxwell will take both your portrait photo and bio and print it.
Please have them in to her by March 12th. She asks that you give  your name, as you want it printed.

This event will be well advertised throughout town.
There are 120 J hooks and six walls that we can use, it is necessary to have frames with a wire hanging.
At this time there is a commitment of seventy prints by 18 people..  There is still room for more.
George Klass gave us a rough idea of what prices we could ask for our pictures.  A 20 x 30 framed and matted print might fetch $200.00, a 9×9 double mounted,  might go for $140.00 and an 8×10 – $40.00.
Suggestions for places for buying frames: Winners, Home Sense, Michael’s, Super Store and Walmart.  You can take out the existing image and put your own in.
Please invite your family and friends to attend this evening.
It was MOVED by Brian Russell, seconded by Brenda Admiraal
THAT a budget of up to $630.00 would be provided by Image Makers

Program for the Evening:
“Image Evaluation”  ~ Tyler Rogers, George Klass and president Wayne Talbot as three experienced members or evaluators,  provided constructive criticism on the images we submitted to Tyler. Tyler opened with the comment that in the five years he has been a member he has really noticed such an improvement in the quality of the pictures submitted.   Their choice of words was very helpful in clarifying what characteristics constitute an appealing picture. One member expressed it well when she said, “I thought that the water theme and the evaluations evening was one of the best yet. I agree with Tyler -“we are getting better” – all of us – it never hurts to boost one’s confidence.”  Which I think the comments given, managed to do.
A big thank you to all of you, for imparting your experience to us.
