                               November 30th, 2011

General Interest:
President, Wayne Talbot opened the evening at 7:15.

~ Wayne, spoke regarding the art display that the club will be putting on this spring at the NSCC.  A committee must be formed to handle the details, such as making a budget and knowing what size pictures we plan to hang. Derek Coombs is the contact person for this. His email is coombs1@eastlink.ca , if you can assist in any way.
Sophie Hoeg is also involved, her email is Sophie.Hoeg@nscc.ca.
Some questions to address: do we still want to do the show in April and May?  Also,  people need to start thinking about and preparing their pictures to hang.  There are 120 J hooks and six walls that we can use. Sophie should be back after Christmas, and should be able to shed more light on this for us.
~ Wayne visited the Dartmouth Crossing Henry’s store seven times, before he was given $10.00 off coupons (if you spend $100.00).  Either Wayne or Cliff will pick up the membership discount cards this week and they will be ready for distribution at the Christmas party on December 9th.

~ Wayne suggested that we might consider taking 15 minutes of each meeting to explore what he has called “Learning Moments”. (Topics and presenters could be any of the members.)  If you have any ideas please forward them to   wayne.talbot@bellaliant.net   Also if you have items you want on the agenda please forward them to Wayne.

~ Regular business meetings will begin at 7:15 (last Wednesday of each month) and the programs for the evenings will start at 7:30.
All meetings will be now be held in room 229.
~ Treasurer Douglas Purdy will accept dues at any time: Single $15.00; Family $20.00.
~ Send photos or information you wish to be on our web site, to Tyler Rogers through email tyro@eastlink.ca.  Even better, bring him images on a CD to one of our meetings.  Please mark your name clearly on the CD.

December  9th (storm date10th), Christmas Party:
Christmas Party:  food, fun and white elephant gift exchange.
This is a time when you can bring a friend or partner to share in this very social evening.   It is to be held at St. John’s Anglican Church hall – Church Street.  The door opens at 5:30, eating is planned for 6:00 – this is to accommodate getting out before the alarm goes off at 11:00.
We are strongly encouraging everyone to bring fifteen of their favorite images on a flash drive or a CD to the party and Tyler will look after projecting the images onto the big screen.  These can be older images or if you want you can bring an album. If we have the ability, we could add our names, to the right hand corner of the image or create an introductory slide with your name on it.
This building is “NUT FREE”!!  There is a little girl who is severely allergic, so please, no nuts!
A White Elephant gift exchange means that each person who attends brings a creatively wrapped gift for another. White elephant means a used gift that you used to love (valued roughly $10.00 $15.00), but are now ready to pass on.  In the past, Cliff has mentioned the fun we have at our Christmas parties, “full contact gift exchange”. This takes place by rolling dice and drawing a gift that catches your fancy from the pile or from another member.  How you wrap this gift is totally up to your imagination. Layer your clothing, possibly bringing a sweater.
And yes, it is a potluck, If you are two people (or more), then please bring two (or more) different food dishes, to share. That might be a salad, a dessert, or / and a main food dish (remember – no nuts).
At the entrance there is a doorbell on the upper left hand side, high up on the door. When we hear the bell ring up stairs then someone will run down and let you in.
