Vice-President, Brian Russell opened and chaired the evening at 7:20.

General Interest

~ Cliff mentioned that the sleigh ride (for Feb. 11) was cancelled due to a lack of interest.  He also stated that he was only able to assure two dates for members to attend 3 hour mornings, at the Wildlife Park (Feb. 3 and 10).
Cliff will speak to Bert again and ask for another date, for another 5 members.

~ Regarding the art display that the club will be putting on this spring at the NSCC.  A committee has been formed to handle the details, (such as making a budget and knowing what size pictures we plan to hang). Derek Coombs is the contact person for this. His email is coombs1@eastlink.ca

~ Other members who have volunteered for the McCarthy Gallery committee are, Doug Purdy, Tyler Rogers, George Klass, Joanne and David Maxwell, Sophie Hoeg, Angie Geldart.  They are meeting on Feb. 15th, regarding the details.

~One of the points made was that people need to start thinking about and preparing the pictures to hang.
There are 120 J hooks and six walls that we can use, it is necessary to have frames with a wire hanging.

 Program for the Evening:

Tyler Rogers spent and hour + educating us on the creativity of off camera flash. Well done as always, he had his material organized, on the screen (to take notes from) and was able to give us the technical foundation first, before leading us step by step into “the basics” of using multiple flashes for the use of portrait photography. We are grateful for the many tips he shared so that we don’t have to quite so seriously fumble our way through our first efforts. Thank you, Tyler.
